I) Use cases
1. you place ads in different channels and want to understand where most of the participants come from (Facebook, Google, Blog, ...)
2. several partners advertise your webinars and you want to track which partner has acquired which participant
3. you want to display a custom thank you page after registration or after the webinar, depending on your partner or advertising channel
4. you want to use an individual link in emails and banners depending on the partner or advertising channel
II) Procedure for capturing the Source_ID
Simply expand the link that you or your partners use to send potential participants to the landing page with the following attachment:
?source_id=SOURCE
IMPORTANT: If you are using a landing page link that already uses ?mode=n, =?mode=p or ?mode=l, the following must be used instead of ?source_id=SOURCE: &source_id=SOURCE (so instead of ? a &)
Then enter a suitable value for "SOURCE". For example
?source_id=Facebook
?source_id=Google
?source_id=Newsletter
?source_id=Partner1
?source_id=Affiliate248
?source_id=Peter
?source_id=Jones
The link to the landing page will look like this:
http://fastwebinar.de/customer/seminar/348_webinar___der_perfekte_verkaufsfunnel/3302/348.html?source_id=Facebook
The transfer of the Source_ID also works if you use your own landing page.
III) Further possibilities
1. Read the Source_ID manually
To do this, open the "Viewers" menu. You will then see the corresponding Source_ID for each participant - provided there is one.
2. transfer the Source_ID via interface to other tools
Some interfaces, such as Infusionsoft, support the transfer of the Source_ID
3. use a separate thank you page per Source_ID after the registration or the webinar
This is relevant, for example, if you want to display a different thank you page for participants who have come from Facebook than for participants who have come from Google. Or if you want to register the affiliate partner via the Source_ID and send the participant to a link with an inserted affiliate ID. Proceed as follows:
Simply use the placeholder {Source_id} in the URL to the respective thank you page. Example:
http://promo.{Source_id}.18963.digistore24.com
4. use the Source_ID to customize links in emails or banners
vgl. 3.
IV) Tips & Tricks
1. shorten the URL
You have the option of shortening the URL using various providers, for example:
It is important to shorten the extension of the Source_ID as well. Appending the Source_ID to the shortened URL does not work.
V) More parameters
In addition to the source_id parameter, you can also use the following parameters according to the same principle:
- utm_source
- utm_medium
- utm_campaign
- utm_term
- utm_content
- affiliate_id
