Many of our customers also offer their webinars outside Germany and often in other time zones. Therefore Webinaris offers the possibility to select on which time zone basis showtimes should take place and whether the participants have the opportunity to make an adjustment to the time zone.
In the menu "Showtimes" you have the option of making settings for the time zone of your showtimes. You have the following options:
1. select time zone
Here you select which time zone should be the basis for your webinar showtimes.
With this setting, the visitor's time zone is read from his computer's settings. The defined showtime then takes place at the selected time in the visitor's time zone.
The showtime is scheduled for 13:00. Visitor A lives in the United States. His time zone is 'UTC-6 Central Time'. If he logs in, his webinar takes place at '13:00 UTC-6 Central Time' - i.e. at '20:00 UTC+1 Central Europe Time'.
Visitor Z lives in Germany. His time zone is 'UTC+1 Central Europe Time'. If he registers, his webinar will take place at '13:00 UTC+1 Central Europe Time'.
You should choose this option if your participants come from different time zones.
b) Selecting a time zone
You can also select a specific time zone. Irrespective of the time zone in which a visitor is located, the showtimes take place exactly at the specified time in the specified time zone.
You should choose this option if all your participants come from the same time zone.
2. Show time zone
Here you select whether the visitor should see in the registration form, in which time zone the showtimes are indicated.
If the setting "Autodetect" is selected under "Select time zone", the time zone that the visitor has set on his computer is displayed. When selecting a specific time zone, the selected time zone is displayed directly.
The visitor sees the time zone and has the opportunity to change it.
As soon as the visitor changes the time zone, the showtimes are adjusted accordingly.
You should choose this option if you have a very international target group coming from different time zones where it is not common to work with different time zones (e.g. a combination of USA, Canada, England and Australia).
The visitor sees the time zone of the showtimes, but cannot change it.
You should choose this option if it is common in your destination country to work with different time zones (e.g. USA).
c) Do not show
The visitor does not see a time zone.
You should choose this option if it is not common in your destination country to work with different time zones (e.g. Germany).
II) Tips & Hints
1. Mind your target group
Depending on your target group, displaying the time zone can be useful (for example, in the industrial environment of internationally active companies). For another target group (e.g. German seniors), displaying the time zone can lead to confusion. Nobody knows your target group as well as you do - you know best whether you should display the time zone or not!
2. test what converts better
Play around with the settings and see which options are best for you. This is the best way to find out what the right setting is for your webinar!
